My Story
Having spent the last 30 years working in Social Care and the NHS, mostly in Hospitals, I finally made the break, and with sky high blood pressure I opted for a change of lifestyle. I followed my passion that my grandfather encouraged to become a full time artist. I’ve done the whole gallery thing, plus several exhibitions many years ago but decided it wasn’t my scene. It’s no good selling artwork at extortionate prices and getting just the occasional sale. I’ve been working full time as an artist now and in those two years I’ve clocked on to the fact that pricing really does matter. In West Sussex I have become the most prolific Plein-air artist, and can be found daily painting random streets and scenes.
I consider myself a plein-air artist and an impressionist first and foremost, however I don’t like to turn away work so will work from photos but preferably video loops. So it’s fair to say I do work in the studio from time to time. I do portraits from time to time, but I should add I generally work from a sitting, unless it’s a posthumous piece. My style of portrait is suited to those of age 35 upwards, and portrait prices differ greatly from my street art.
If you’re visiting this site, there’s a good chance you have bumped into myself painting on a random street somewhere. Please note I do sell from the scene, and a direct purchase is likely to be cheaper. I do use restaurants and pubs for my work, however I do owe a commission, and prices reflect that. I set my prices at a level that is extremely affordable and am at times open to offers, however at standard set price you have full copyright, when reductions are made this is lost. By copyright this is FULL copyright, you own the painting and the image and can print copies, greeting cards etc. You are even legitimately able to sell prints!!
